"We ran a good campaign. We campaigned on our principles and our values... Friends tonight we leave government, but we leave with heads held high."
The truth is the the NDP and Mr. Calvert did not run a good campaign. They ran a terrible campaign. Their policies received no traction and the party was undisciplined, by their own standards (as witnessed by the SaskHATchewan Weyburn-Big Muddy candidate).
That aside, the reason why they lost is they just weren't honest. Worse yet, they tried to pin dishonesty on their opponents.
Shakespeare said it best, "Me thinks thou dost protest too much". This was the way the NDP acted.
They lied about their accomplishments (14 consecutive balanced budgets) and about the intent of the Sask Party (Enterprise Saskatchewan means Privatization).
Rather than run on their record, which was full of lies and missteps (Fodey's severance, Carriere, the NDP caucus fraud scandal, the lie about the PST), they tried to pin their lack or values and moral judgement on their opponents.
They tried to buy the election with their drug plan, much as Romanow did in 1999 with the free university tuition, but they couldn't.
The fact is the people in Saskatchewan are more pragmatic than political.
They like honest people. The like decent people. And they have an inherent sense of fairness.
The NDP called their opponents names. The NDP lied about the person Brad was and what he was going to do if was elected.
These seem to be the values Calvert refers to in his concession speech. And maybe Calvert still doesn't get it.
When Calvert tried to convince voters about the dangers of Big Brad Wolf, people got angry.
When people call someone you like a name, it says nothing about that person. It says something about the name caller though.
Now some of you may ask if that was the case what happened to the other 48% of the people that didn't vote for Brad.
I submit that the people of Saskatchewan are very cautious. They still aren't sure about the Sask Party brand quite yet, but were willing to give them a chance. Because Saskatchewan people do step out... every time they plant a crop, they step out.
My prediction is that if the Sask Party run their government the way they ran this campaign, there will be a larger mandate given to the Sask Party on Nov. 07th/2011.
The Sask Party realized that the first thing do after becoming elected was not to set the election dates.
It was to keep their word.
And that's something that the voters no longer believed the NDP wanted to do or were capable of doing.
It all boiled down to honesty...

That's The Ballgame, Folks...
Ladies and gentlemen, this is my second past post for this election campaign.
The next one will be to post the numbers and to give my opinion as to why this election has gone terribly wrong for the NDP. I'm not going to take comments on that analysis.
Well, it's been fun.
The next provincial election, and possibly even the next federal campaign, I'll be back (I can hardly wait to hear about the scary Stephen Harper). I may also show up as some alter ego on some other blog, but I haven't decided yet.
I'm going to keep my email account so feel free to send me any juicy political or labour propaganda.
To all those who took big risks to contribute to this blog, I thank you.
Thanks for dropping by. I hope you enjoyed the blog. It was a great experience...
Until we meet again.

An NDP Pedigree?
UPDATED - Bumped To Top
It has been confirmed that Will Hamilton, the Founder of the Saskatchewan Sign Kickers Party and Charles Hamilton, the Editor In Chief of the Sheaf (whose lovely anti-Sask Party piece can be found in the post entitled, From The People That Brought You Fellatio Jesus) are the nephews of Saskatoon Greystone NDP MLA Peter Prebble.
Mr. Prebble is not seeking re-election in the current provincial election.
As for one of my original post comments, "Do you think we could find a connection between the Hamilton family and either organized labour or the NDP?" would this little tidbit suffice?
In response to sunnyside's request that I apologize... I don't think so...
The Star Phoenix has confirmed that David Fodey (Aden Bowman Collegiate) Co-Captain of Destruction is indeed the nephew of Jim Fodey, the former NDP caucus chief of staff, who resigned in the wake of the NDP caucus office theft scandal that broke last summer...
(Didn't Jim tell young David how shabbily the NDP treated him in the end? Oh I forgot... The details of his resignation severance package were never released publicly by the NDP. Maybe he wasn't treated shabbily after all...)
From the comments on "Even the Score"
sunnyside said...
Since the beginning of the campaign, your sight has blamed the NDP for the sign wrecking shinnanigans. Now that is clear this was just a group of kids, are ready to apologize to the NDP, for saying this was a collabertive effort from the NDP.
From SDA regarding the same issue...
"In a case of the apple not falling far from.... the apple - " Do a search on Facebook for [U of Sask Sheaf Editor-In-Chief] Chuck Hamilton. View his friends, and you will see Will Hamilton is listed as his brother. I bet their parents are proud." (Or it was until Will's was pulled.)"
Commentary regarding that joyous little Sheaf article can be found here and here
You see, there is a pedigree here.
The fact is this particular Facebook site commented on the perception that there was three times as much money in the Sask Party campaign as there were others. Where would young Mr. Hamilton get this idea from? His studying of financial records for all three parties?
Also, one commenter actually took exception to the fact that his NDP sign was kicked in leads me to confidently state that these sign destructions are the work of NDP supporters and their proxies.
Do you think that coincidently, these two fine young brothers named Hamilton created their attitudes from reading the platforms of each party, reading the Communist Manifesto or Das Capital and each coming to their own individual conclusions?
Do you think we could find a connection between the Hamilton family and either organized labour or the NDP?
The one thing the Hamiltons did not teach their children is that they shouldn't out themselves in such a public manner. They have made quite a name for themselves in a very short amount of time.
One final observation from reader "slick" in the comments...
I can guarantee you that the parents of every one of those kids are CARD CARRYIN' NDP SUPPORTERS.
I couldn't have said it better...

I Suppose It's Better Than The Typical NDP Nazi Cartoon
From another NDP Boogeyman operative.
This picture of Brad Wall was in the Kevin Yates/Harry Van Mulligan campaign office in Regina. It was taken during Calvert's final media conference today.
And these guys were NDP ministers? Pathetic...

He's Just Not Trying Anymore - Redux
There is a stock radio ad playing right now on Newstalk650
It describes the NDP platform and ends with the necessary scare campaign against Brad Wall and the Sask Party.
At the end of the ad, there is a candidate mentioned with the constituency. The quote for the Premier is "In Saskatoon Riverdale, Vote for Lorne Calvert."
The problem is that the name of the constituency is Saskatoon Riversdale... with an "s".
The first time I heard this ad, I thought my hearing was off. Then I heard it again.
Newstalk650 was a big NDP buy. You would think that a) this was important enough to get right and b) since it is the Premier's constituency, that they would want to make sure no mistakes were made as it may reflect badly on him...
I don't care what celebrities the Premier may bring into the constituency, particularly since he avoids Riversdale like the plague for the other 3 years and 11 months of his term, but saying the name wrong in an ad is insulting to the citizens of that of community.
His handlers must be completely incompetent for letting something like this go...
No wonder there is a thought that the Sask Party candidate Fred Ozirney is leading in Saskatoon Riversdale...

Saskatchewan Sign Kickers = Rocket Surgeons
Evidently, the Saskatchewan Sign Kicking Party was seeking some revenge for the segment John Gormley did on his program yesterday. So they created this little Facebook group .
The name of the group is "john gormley should go f*** himself".
The picture of the man on the right is indeed John Gormley, but not the Newstalk650 John Gormley.
Rather, this John Gormley happens to be the Green Party leader and member of the National Parliament for Dublin South East.
So, not only did these future Rhodes Scholars record themselves performing criminal acts by vandalizing election signs and then posting those acts on Facebook, but when radio host John Gormley read on his show what these idiots publicly admitted to, they sought revenge by putting up a picture of Ireland's Green Party leader, with the words "I Love C**K" tattooed across his forehead.
These kids couldn't be dumber if they tried.
UPDATE - The original Facebook group is down, but thank God for screenshots...

Exactly, where are these young geniuses getting the information that the Sask Party has 3 times the funding of any other party? Studying financials?
They find it unfair? That says something, not about these kids, but about their "role" models...

Calvert's Desperate Celebrity Endorsement
One of the NDP Boogeyman's operatives has informed me that Tom Jackson, the First Nation's singer and actor is flying into Saskatoon to help campaign for the NDP. Evidently, Jackson is a "good friend" of Calvert's.
He is coming at the request of Calvert in an attempt to garner more First Nations support in the constituency of Riversdale.
This is not good news for the NDP...
- Historically, the First Nations of Saskatchewan voted Liberal federally and NDP provincially. This time however, there is a strong respect for Brad Wall and the Sask Party. This may be eroding NDP support from what they consider a core vote.
- Fred Ozirney with the Saskatchewan Party has run a surprisingly effective campaign in Riversdale. The odds are against them, but in the Devine sweep of 1982, even Riversdale was lost to the PC's (remember the gas pump jockey Joanne Zazelenchuk who defeated Roy Romanow?)
- If Calvert is taking time on the Sunday before the election to campaign with a core vote in his own constituency, what are HIS numbers saying? Is Tom Jackson a last ditch effort on Calvert's part to bring up his bruised and battered profile?
I used to think that Riversdale was a given for the NDP.
But with the NDP polling lower than they did in the PC sweep of 1982, Ozirney's efforts in the constituency, and Calvert bringing in a celebrity endorser to work with him on the Sunday before the election, are we looking at a potential upset here?
One can only dream...

He's Just Not Trying Any More
This is a screenshot of Lorne Calvert's Facebook page. It was sent to me yesterday by one of his "friends".
If you look at Lorne's status, as of yesterday is still says, "Lorne is getting ready for the debate", which I assume was set some time before last Tuesday's debate.
They're just not trying anymore...

Calvert - We Need To Scare Them More!
"Friends, I have it on good authority that Brad Wall and the Saskatchewan Party are in fact, cannibals and plan on eating your children if they are elected.
It has been learned that Brad Wall, with some of his unelected friends, actually went and saw a movie called "the Last King of Scotland".
The movie features, at its core, a story about a young doctor who becomes embroiled in a life and death struggle with the former Ugandan dictator, Idi Amin.
Now it turns out, that Mr. Amin, was found out to be a cannibal!
During the moviefilm, Mr. Wall and his friends were seen as laughing and actually enjoying themselves during horrific scenes.
Does this mean that Mr. Wall and his corporate friends enjoy acts of cannibalism on the screen? I submit to you that it does...
Now, I'm not sure if there were actually scenes of cannibalism in this movie, since Betty and I don't attend any movie higher than a G rating, but that is irrelevant.
Friends, the point is the evidence is overwhelming.
Only a New Democratic Party government can prevent the wholesale cannibalism of this beloved province and its future.
Only a New Democratic Party government, that has the lowest cost bundle of utilities anywhere in Canada, can protect your children from the extreme right-wing agenda of the Conservative Saskatchewan Party.
Do you want your children to be eaten like they eat children in Alberta?
I say emphatically, "No!"
Did I mention that Rolling Stones were in Regina last year?
On November 07th, I'm asking for your vote. Keep Saskatchewan safe from cannibalism and the extreme right wing agenda of the Saskatchewan Party. Vote for the New Democratic Party of Saskatchewan.

CUPE 1975 - Working To Ensure Workplace Safety
"We have been approached by employees who are members of CUPE 1975 who are afraid. They have reported bullying, harassment, intimidating behaviour and threats being made by union members against other members if they do not participate in job action," wrote Barb Daigle, U of S associate vice-president of human resources."
"Be careful walking down a dark alley at night if you don't support this job action, be careful crossing the picket line, we can't guarantee your personal safety' - those would be the physical threats," she said."The others would be more subtle forms of harassment and intimidation, like, 'We will ensure that you no longer have a job."
Two complaints, filed in writing by CUPE 1975 members, are being investigated by university administrators who are aware of more than a dozen instances of union members harassing, intimidating or bullying other union members, says Daigle.
You may remember the CUPE 1975 executive has had some previous concerns about its members.
Just another example of why the rank and file distrust the union brass and anyone they associate with...

From The Lefties That Brought You "Fellatio Jesus"
The University of Saskatchewan Sheaf has always been a magnet for left leaning students, many of whom work on NDP campaigns, become candidates for the NDP, or end up working in public office (because the real world is full of those damn profiteers).
The Sheaf, unfortunately, has also been a tremendous embarrassment to many students on the A&S campus. Remember the March 02/2006 Fellatio Jesus and the Capitalist Piglet?
On staff at that time was Charles Hamilton, who is now the editor-in-chief of the Sheaf. I've attached his cheery little leftist rant for you to examine regarding the Saskatchewan Party.
Chuck gives us;
- The Sask Party's platform on post secondary education is not only completely out of touch with the people and students of Saskatchewan (says who?), but is belligerent and offensive. (How is a platform belligerent?)
- The Sask Party believes that Saskatchewan is a crappy place to live, that all of our young people are moving away because there is no work and that the NDP has failed to "brand" Saskatchewan as a land of economic and cultural opportunity (nice run-on sentence, EIC). This is complete shit and is frankly offensive.
- This is not a shitty place to live. Trust me. (Chuck, the one thing you haven't earned is anyone's trust after this Pulitzer Prize winning editorial)
- We don't need the "most aggressive youth retention plan in Canada". (Then move!)
- Any platform that bribes young people to stay here is not only misguided, it is insulting.
- Any platform that is based on telling me how shitty this place is can fuck off and die. (You want a platform to fuck off and die? How does that work?)
Besides not being able to perform the basic English structure duties that should be second nature to an EIC, in typical leftist fashion, getting facts about the Saskatchewan Party's real position on advanced education and its respect for Saskatchewan would only interfere with his feelings.
Facts are not relevant to a good, left-wing obscenity laced rant.
Chuck, you got our attention. Although that may not be such a good thing...

CUPE Scare Tactics - Health Care
Among the gems in this document;
- "The Saskatchewan Party has not committed to publicly delivered health care." (The Saskatchewan Party has been very clear on publicly funded, publicly delivered health care. CUPE just doesn't care to listen)
- "The Saskatchewan Party will restructure health care." (Is that a bad thing?)
- "Governments in Western Canada simlar to the Saskatchewan Party have rolled back wages and slashed thousands of jobs." (They must be referring to Campbell's Liberal party in BC that was forced to make cuts after years of unencumbered spending by NDP governments. As a result of these moves, the province of BC is financially well again)
It would be nice if CUPE told the whole story. But I guess the truth doesn't matter when you are trying to scare your members.

The Candy Poll - Sask Party Homes More Generous Than NDP Homes
On the Murray Wood show today, Michelle Hugli was guest hosting when Ken from Saskatoon called in.
He relayed a story that happened to him as he was taking his kids out trick or treating last night.
After going door to door for a time, and without any prompting from Ken, the kids came up with the following conclusion; the houses that had the green signs (Sask Party) gave a lot more candy out that the houses with the orange signs (NDP).
Ahh, the wisdom of youth.

The Last Refuge of The Damned
Here's the newest NDP election strategy; name calling.
Big Brad Wolf? Are you bloody serious?
The man who desires to remain as the Premier of Saskatchewan has his people send out this latest media release.
This is an embarassment to every citizen in Saskatchewan. We deserve so much better than name calling from our Premier.
If there was any doubt that this man and his team have gone way beyond their "past due" date, this latest media release should do it.
Unbelievable...

Coersion... From A Distance
From a PA Pulp and Paper Mill update, Ron Rucks, the President of CEP Local 1120 writes, "The National Union is looking for people to help out in the election and is willing to pay all expenses up to $100 per day."
Number Two
"My friend’s husband works at IPSCO in Regina. He received a call this morning from the Steelworkers of America union office from Ontario reminding him that Mark Wartman (NDP-Regina Qu’Appelle Valley) is the candidate that he should be voting for on the 7th."

A Plea From A Sask Ex-Pat
Notice how this young man refers to this province as "we", even though technically he is an Albertan now.
This is a story I hear time and time again about ex-pats wanting to repatriate, but will not do so under an NDP government.
Joshua's right when he says "the worse for Saskatchewan, the better for NDP."
I hope that on November 07th, Joshua receives his wish and he gets to come back home.

SGEU Liquor Store Privatization Propaganda
When a SGEU employee called into the Murray Wood show on Newstalk980 and asked Brad Wall if the Sask Party was going to privatize the liquor board stores, Wall simply responded, "No".
When asked again, (because she was looking for confrontation) he gave the exact same answer, which today Murray Wood referred to as the "shortest answer he had ever heard a politician give".
Despite Wall's answer, the SGEU have created a "Stop Privatization" campaign (aimed at who, I don't know) with the following claims.
- Publicly run liquor stores help ensure safe and healthy communities. (If you really want a safe and healthy community, don't sell booze in it)
- Public liquor stores generate revenue that government uses to fund services like health and education. (Let's go get pissed tonight on Jag and help shorten our waiting lists (or help Johnny get that Commodore64 for the school library))
- Public liquor stores good jobs with decent wages (Yup, nothing like paying someone $60K a year to stock shelves and check IDs)
Finally, the pamphlet quotes the Liquor Stores and Crime Study done by the Calgary Police Service in 2003 as stating "Private retailers are more likely to sell alcohol to those who shouldn't have it - The need to make a profit (bad word) may pressure owners to sell to underage youth."
Now I couldn't the specific document the SGEU mentioned, but I did find this one; "The Social Consequences Of Privatizing Liquor And Beer Stores" May 1997, which concluded; "The Calgary Police Service concludes that their data "dispels the myth that privatization of liquor businesses has increased the rate of crime. It reveals that privatization has not altered the amount of crime at [individual] locations over the past 2 years."
Hmmm, I wonder why SGEU referenced materials from the BCGEU but not this document.

New NDP Tactic - Union Proxies Tailing Sask Party Workers In An Attempt To Intimidate
From an NDP Boogeyman operative;
"While campaigning in Coronation Park his weekend, myself and Terrill Young (our candidate) were being tailed by an NDP operative. The dude actually had the balls to approach us and engage in some political discussion. His name was Richard and was wondering about the stance on the crowns, and in particular, STC as he is an employee there. When he approached us, he was still in his STC uniform, so cannot say for sure if he was campaigning in his uniform. He was a decent, respectful dude but to me it looked like he was conducting campaign work while in his STC uniform.
Debbi Stevenson has also indicated that there are people tailing her as she door knocks in Regina Elphinstone Center. To me, this shows me that the NDP is pulling out all the stops, as strongholds are now 'in play" for the SP."
These are classic examples of NDP proxy unions attempting to intimidate and unnerve their opponents.
Hardcore union operatives work very close to the line of the law. The message they want to send is, "We know who you are. We know where you live."
Now can you imagine a young female candidate campaigning under circumstances like these?
The NDP are allowing tactics like these to go on.
This is one of the many reasons the NDP need to be dispatched into the political wilderness, come November 07th.

CUPE1975 Executive To Members - "We Don't Trust You"
"32. If a strike is called will the Government legislate us back to work? The Employer has alluded to the fact that if the present Government changes, it is the Employers view that we would be legislated back to work."
No wonder the union rank and file don't trust the union executive.
This is an outright fabrication meant to scare the union members into not voting for anyone other than the NDP.
This shows an utter lack of respect, not of the employer to the union, but from a union executive that doesn't trust the judgement or intelligence of its members.
Finally, it was the NDP government under Roy Romanow that last legislated striking workers back to work in 1999.
I thought I'd mention that since CUPE didn't.

Calvert Cares, But His Campaign Team Is Asleep At The Switch
Further to my previous post...
We live in a digital age. Something called the Internet has been around since Al Gore invented it in the late '60's. Most people started really using the Internet around 1995. And many political campaigns have embraced the Internet.
Now, if a campaign brand is going to be used, in most cases that particular domain name is purchased beforehand to link a marketing campaign to it.
That's not rocket science. But evidently for the NDP, it is...
The NDP campaign team, run by Doug Still, a former Social Studies teacher from Humboldt, forgot that very simple rule when they came up with "Calvert Cares. Calvert Delivers."
calvertcares, calvertdelivers and calvertcarescalvertdelivers (.com and .ca) are all owned by... you guessed it; The Saskatchewan Party.
As a matter of fact, you can find all sorts of NDP shortcomings on calvertdelivers.com courtesy of the Sask Party.
It used to be the NDP were lousy at governing, but great at campaigning.
Now it seems, they're lousy at both.
No wonder Dale Schmeichel bailed...

Calvert Delivers - Quennell Whines
Much to the chagrin of the NDP, The Sask Party has decided to expose the NDP's less than stellar record online at calvertdelivers.com
NDP Justice Minister Frank Quennell is not impressed with the effort and would like the Sask Party to correct the points that make the NDP look bad, despite having concrete facts and numbers from outside sources that back up the Sask Party's assertions.
Now Minister Quennell doesn't like the Sask Party facts and figures but has no problem whatsoever with Lorne Calvert running an ad in the Star Phoenix and the Leader Post accusing Brad Wall and the Sask Party of having a hidden agenda of wanting to privitize crowns and healthcare.
Regardless of how clear Wall has been on both those issues, (and he has been crystal clear that privatization of the Crowns and heathcare are not in the cards if elected), the NDP continue to spread false and misleading information stating otherwise.
Evidently, what's good for the goose evidently isn't good for the gander.
If you compare the two websites you find two very different approaches.
While the Sask Party refers to the actual record of the NDP using third party sources, the NDP site is based on many out of date quotes, and in many cases taken out of context.
The NDP site uses accusations and innuendo. The Sask Party uses confirmed facts.
The picture of Lorne Calvert of the Sask Party site is an actual picture used in Calvert ad. The NDP site manipulates the pictures of Brad Wall the the Sask Party candidates to deliberately distort and make them look bad. (Does this sound like an on-going theme?)
The Sask Party platform and campaign has been about details.
The NDP platform and campaign has been about spreading falsehoods, distortions, misquotes, and innuendo.
The question is, "Who best represents what you stand for?"
One final thing (and this is for all us Internet geeks out there). You would think that if the NDP braintrust was going to run with the "Calvert Cares. Calvert Delivers." brand, they would have had the smarts to tie up the domain name...

Battlefords Sask Party Campaign Office Vandalized
From the Star Phoenix this morning...
From a North Battleford source,
"During the night hours of October 25, 2007 to October 26, the front of Herb Cox’s Saskatchewan Party campaign office (1472 – 100th Street in North Battleford) was defaced and damaged with spray painted profanities. Signs at the office were also removed and destroyed. The entire front of the building was spray painted with F**K Herb Cox, etc."
The current NDP candidate is Health Minister, Len Taylor. The Sask Party candidate is Herb Cox.
The constituency of The Battlefords is a swing seat.
As can be evidenced throughout the entire election campaign, these acts specifically target Sask Party candidates and their property.
In the 1999 election the Sask Party and the NDP were almost identical in support. In 2003, the NDP finished 5% ahead of the Sask party.
You would think that if this sign eradication campaign were totally random and being waged by 17 or 18 year olds (as has been claimed by some NDP supporters) the number of signs damaged would, percentage wise, be relatively even. Most teenage kids that vandalize don't pick sides, right?
However, the signs being destroyed are overwhelmingly Sask Party signs. And these acts are occurring right across the province.
These are not random acts perpetrated by teens. These are fully partisan acts.
Either that or more cement heads support the NDP than they do the other parties (which also makes some sense... see Jeff Potts).
Therefore, one has to come to the conclusion that these acts of wilful and malicious damage are intimidation tactics being overwhelmingly perpetrated by NDP supporters and their proxies.
These NDP proxies are trying to send a message to Sask Party supporters that they and their property are not safe.
Calvert cares? Only if you support the NDP...

Former NDP Candidate Jeff Potts Goes Over The Top
"You know, out in the oilpatch the men don't like politicians. We like crooked politicians even less and we don't want any crooked politicians around here which is why I joined the NDP at the last minute to ask some questions for the men. The men in the patch have my back too. If the SP keeps pushing it there is going to be some trouble. Anw when I say there is going to be trouble I mean it. Not just your veryday let's ask a politician some questions kine of trouble...I mean dragging politicians out into the street and tar and feathering them kind of trouble. So keep pushing."
Now, one would think that Rabble.ca would censor these comments from Famouspipeliner aka the former Swift Current NDP candidate Jeff Potts. But evidently not. He continues...
"Dear Michelle, (Rabble.ca moderator)
In regards to legal matters, I have been in regular contact with a lawyer and he says I have nothing to worry about. It's reich wing scare tactics. We will be looking into possible defamation of character charges against ralco radio and their Limbaughesque talk radio hosts. Soon they will be receiving the paper work requesting the tapes from their shows for review by my lawyer.Over the weekend, I will be meeting with men from other oilfield service companies to see what we can do to try and prevent a Devine era politician from becoming the premier. You see, they'd like to ruin me but they can't. I have no criminal record. I show up for work everyday and always have a hand out to help the next man and I'd never ask anyone to do anything that I wouldn't do myself. So try not to worry about their threats...it only shows their true nature... "
We've entered a new realm here in political campaigning in Saskatchewan; the realm of the threat of physical violence.
This is where this starts to get scary.
What exactly does Potts mean when he says "If the SP keeps pushing it there is going to be some trouble" and "dragging politicians out into the street and tar and feathering them kind of trouble"? This is a direct threat and needs to be addressed as such.
He comments later, "Over the weekend, I will be meeting with men from other oilfield service companies to see what we can do to try and prevent a Devine era politician from becoming the premier."
What will Potts do "to prevent a Devine era politician from becoming a premier"?
Are those comments meant to intimidate or threaten Brad Wall? Are they a promise of physical violence?
Also, why is Rabble.ca allowing such threats on their discussion boards? If something does happen to any Sask Party member in Swift Current, or elsewhere, would Rabble.ca be held accountable?
Irrespective of the answers to any of these questions, the police need to be notified of these statements and Mr. Potts needs to be answerable to them.
As much as the NDP now have a new candidate in Swift Current, this was their guy. They need to step in and stop Potts from further action or threats of such, unless of course that are so morally deprived that they are with his actions.
This is beyond ideological differences. This is getting dangerous.

U of R NDP Youth Rally Planned For Today
Via Facebook and organizer, David Froh (the guy that was offering kids $10 an hour to volunteer door knock)
verbatim
"Regina South NDP Candidate, Yens Petersen will join with University of Regina NDP Club members and concerned students to protest a Saskatchewan Party Youth Plan that ignores the requests and needs of young students, this thursday at !2:30 in the U of R Riddell Centre."
I guess the !2:30 is to attract all the Swahili NDP support on campus. (It's a linguistics joke... look it up)
It would be nice to see some young Sask Party supporters there to counter the misinformation campaign.

The NDP's Own Worst Enemy
I've had the following information relayed personally by at least two residents of Regina..
Voters in Regina are reporting that an NDP candidate, so frustrated by what he calls an ineffectual NDP election campaign, has been remarking on voter's doorsteps that after the election loss that he expects for the NDP, Dwain Lingenfelter is poised to come back as the leader of the NDP.
Another NDP candidate, while campaigning door to door, referred to a voter, who identified himself as a Sask Party supporter, as a "fascist or a dim wit" for not supporting the NDP.
The last incident was also relayed by a caller to John Gormley Live this morning.
According to sources, both of these comments came from present NDP Ministers...
Yet another two examples of the wheels absolutely falling off the NDP provincial campaign.
(Hint - one of these guys was kicked out of cabinet for disagreeing with the Premier and brought back in because Calvert was running out of bodies...)

NDP Boycotts JGL
It is becoming increasingly evident that that Saskatchewan New Democratic Party has an official policy to boycott the most popular and influential talk show host in the province, John Gormley and his program, John Gormley Live.
Not only will Lorne Calvert not appear on the program, (Calvert claims he has no time) but my suspicions were confirmed yesterday when John had the "Candidates Forum" on his program.
The hour-long segment allowed any nominated candidate in Saskatchewan a minute of un-interrupted time to promote themselves, their platforms and their parties. It was an enjoyable piece of radio, more than likely thought up by Gormley's producer. (I think he depends on her a lot).
All in all, 25 candidates took the opportunity to take their minute from all over and the province and all parties, with one notable exception. There was not one candidate from the NDP that appeared on this segment.
Calvert has appeared on Murray Wood's show, so it doesn't seem that they are boycotting NewsTalk in Saskatchewan, just Gormley. Calvert also had time to sing "In A Gada Da Vida" to pre-schoolers yesterday, but no time for Gormley.
Is the NDP refusing to appear because they don't agree with Gormley's conservative politics, or are they punishing Gormley for not towing the NDP line of "everything's fine, don't change it"? My guess is the latter.
This strategy will backfire.
This tactic, over the next 14 days, that will not only raise the ire of Gormley but the ire of a large segment of the electorate, left, right or centre, that rely on Gormley for information, opinion and debate.
Calvert's and the NDP's snub has not gone unnoticed.
But the desired effect that Calvert is trying to accomplish will be opposite to what he believes.
UPDATE
FINALLY - Minister of Justice Frank Quenell breaks rank with the NDP to speak with Gormley on the Sask Health "gag order" on health care workers. Read about the full issue here...

CEP Drug Plan Propaganda

CEP Local 1-S Misinformation
Page Three...
"As many of our members will be aware, there have been recent statements by certain politicians with regard to the possible sale of Saskatchewan's Crown Corporations... We firmly believe that selling off the Crowns or stopping them from competing with the private sector will be bad for both SaskTel and the employees that work there."
Two thoughts...
The spin is amateurish at best; certain politicians said certain things about certain things that may or may not happen now or in the future. And you all know who those certain people are who said those certain things.
Whisper campaign, anyone?
Secondly, that Crowns, with the resources of the entire government and their powers of taxation (which is enforceable at the end of a gun), should compete with private business, who then pay taxes to that same body, so that body can try to run them out of business?
Class warfare, anyone?
The CEP attitude is exactly the attitude that deters new private investment in Saskatchewan.
This is just plain wrong and the reason why small business, who pay the majority of the taxes in this province, simply don't trust the NDP and their union proxies.
The Regina Manifesto is alive and well and being practiced by the CEP.

The PAC of the UFCW, Local 1400 - AKA The Lucky Charms Flyer
Some of the Lucky Charms Flyer's highlights-
- Help avoid four years of bad luck
- The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party is a political party that is pro-labour, pro-family, and pro-Saskatchewan.
- Is it really "time for a change" to a party that is anti-labour, with a veiled agenda, and who makes things up? (Not unlike the UFCW, who bases an entire political campaign for the NDP on "We got lucky!")
- You know who you can trust. You know who's on our side - labour's side. Vote for four more years of good luck - on Election Day, vote for the party of the workers - the New Democratic Party
- Please pass this on to everyone you know that cares about the future of Saskatchewan.
Are leprachauns now running the Political Action Committee of the UFCW? You have got to be kidding...
Now that I realize that the success of the next four years will be based solely on luck, if the Sask Party wins, I'm going to the casino...

BREAKING NEWS - Swift Currrent NDP Jeff Potts Candidate Gets Outed as Famouspipeliner
UPDATE - Jeff Potts is now officially gone...
(Damn... this was getting fun)
CBC story here...
This is why the NDP Boogeyman exists.
As reported on CBC Saskatchewan this AM.
The NDP candidate in Swift Current is Jeff Potts. On Rabble.ca discussion board (Babble), the well known left leaning site, he is know as Famouspipeliner.
In the past months, Potts, as Famouspipeliner, has made numerous false comments about his Saskatchewan Party opponent, who just happens to be Brad Wall, leader of the Sask Party. Those comments included;
- Mr. Wall's father owns a number of rental properties in Swift Current and has forced tenants to place SK Party signs on their lawns
- One of these properties is a well known crack house
- Brad Wall stole $15,000 of liquor from the SLGA for his wedding
The problem is that none of these statements are true. Mr. Walls's father does not own rental properties and the SK Party has a letter from the SLGA that Mr. Wall did not take any liquor.
In his defence, Potts claims that because he believes the Sask Party was lying, he was doing it as well.
The Sask Party is calling upon Lorne Calvert not to sign Pott's nomination papers...
In the final two of Famouspipeliner's posts, posted on October 20th on the Saskatchewan Election thread, Potts claims...
"The shit really hits the fan for the SP this week and they don't know what's coming." and "Actually people, our plan is to tell the truth and to use democratic means to seize control of the government. Wall's campaign is already falling apart...more to follow."
Contrarian, yet strangely prophetic....

A Challenge To The Justice Minister of Saskatchewan
Shortly after the Saskatchewan election began, a member of the Saskatoon Police Service was quoted in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix as saying that any wilful damage to campaign signs was a criminal offence and the perpetrator(s) would be dealt with as the law allows.
Sometime in the morning hours of October 21st, the Sask Party candidate in Saskatoon Meewasin had a large number of his signs destroyed by acts of vandalism. The Liberal Leader David Karwacki and the NDP's Justice Minister Frank Quenell's signs were untouched.
Since the vandalism occurred in the Justice Minister's constituency and since his signs were not damaged, it is imperative that Mr. Quenell publicly request that the Saskatoon Police Service find the vandals and bring them to justice as quickly as possible in order to dismiss any perception that the vandalism was not a random act, but specifically targeted one of the Justice Minister's opponents.
It is also important that Mr. Quenell publicly state that the vandals were in no way connected to the New Democratic Party, and more specifically. Mr. Quenell's campaign itself.
As the senior person in Sask responsible for the administration of justice, it is only appropriate (and imperative) that the Minister stand up quickly and publicly and call for a full investigation.
Therefore, the challenge put forth the NDP Justice Minister Frank Quenell is this; in order to alleviate the concerns of citizens and voters, will Mr. Quenell a) publicly ask the SPS to investigate the Sask Party sign vandalism in his constituency and b) unequivocally state that the vandals were not part of some organized political action to benefit his constituency and/or his party?
Anything less than that could bring the entire ministry into disrepute.

Saskatoon Meewasin Vandalism
As reported under my NDP Boogeyman Sightings listing, there is a more detailed account of that vandalism over at cjunk's. It has also found its way to SDA.
The NDP/unions are up to their old tricks again.
I hope the voters in that constituency decide to fight back and fully punish the organization behind this despicable act.

At least 10 email messages have been received from union members alleging SGEU scare tactics on the electorate.

New NDP Tactic - The Dreaded Coffee Shop Attack
The NDP have come up with a insidious new method to attack the Sask Party; have the King of the Coffee Shop print off his favorite Sask Party bashing flyers and bring them to coffee row. (Now, I suspect that if the King lives in rural Saskatchewan and brings one of these flyers out, not to mention the ridicule he'll receive, he's buying the coffee for the day, if not the week).
I don't suspect seeing these flyers in any Starbucks I'm aware of. Too pedestrian.
Of course, these flyers will also be used by NDP candidates and trade union brass to skew the facts about both the Sask Party's and the NDP's record.
Good tactic; too bad the majority of the information contained in these flyers is patently false.
This document was the second draft, finalized on August 28th, 2007, a couple of months before Lorne and his grandson Levi went for that famous walk in the Qu'Appelle Valley.
BTW, who pays for these flyers? Are they being properly accounted for in the campaigns? We know that the NDP aren't exactly truthful when it comes to campaign financing...

Thanks For Your Help Larry, But...
"Our understanding is the way that the Sask. Party is reporting is the legal and correct way and today we're calling on (NDP Leader) Lorne Calvert to immediately disclose his hidden donation list," said (Nancy) Heppner, who is seeking re-election in Martensville."
This is why voters and union members no longer trust the NDP or the SFL.
The posts that started this latest NDP deception are here and here.

BREAKING NEWS - NDP Premier's Dinner - Nov 29th
Lorne Calvert's Premier's Dinner is booked for the evening of November 29th at TCU Place in Saskatoon. The Saskatchewan general election is November 07th.
A confidential source informed me that the Premier's dinner was booked by the NDP before the election call, but has not been cancelled as of the time of this post.
Apparently, Calvert's people are certain of the outcome of the election.
Funny, I always thought that kind of decision was left to the electorate...

SGEU Anti-Privatization Handout - Part Two
Title - What SLGA Employees Need to Know About Privatization
There will be a provincial election in the near future and a change of government opens up the very real possibility that liquor stores will be privatized.
Organizations representing private business are aggressively pressuring politicians to turn liquor sales over to private business quickly, with little public consultation.
Privatization means job loss
More than 900 SLGA employees in 64 communities -including 400 rural employees
-will face major job loss if the government sells off SLGA liquor stores and warehouses.
Loss of government revenue will ultimately threaten other public sector jobs, too.
In Alberta the promise of more 'Mom and Pop' outlets was quickly eclipsed by large corporations, like grocery chains, taking over the market. Wages dropped 50 per cent after privatization.
Privatization reduces community safety
Organizations like MADD and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health point to research
that indicates privatization brings fewer controls and increased consumption; they say
this opens a Pandora's Box of related social problems.
What is SGEU doing?
We've launched a public campaign to remind Saskatchewan people that SLGA employees help ensure the socially responsible sale of liquor. The campaign includes:
• A joint advertising campaign with SLGA to promote the 'ID under 25' initiative.
• Working with community groups that share our concern for socially responsible alcohol control. • A newspaper advertising campaign that focuses on our commitment not to sell liquor to minors.
• Research into how privatization would affect Saskatchewan.
• Letters and presentations to political decision' makers.
We want to build the public's trust in the services we provide, and to convince the politicians there is no reasonable justification for privatization.
PRIVATIZATION
What you can do
Talk to friends.
• Talk to political candidates. Pay attention to the news; write letters to the editor and participate in phone-in shows when the privatization issue is raised.
• Learn more -contact SGEU for fact sheets and background research.
When called on, participate in letter-writing campaigns and petitions in support of public liquor sales.
Send an email to Gayle Marteniuk, chair of the SGEU Anti-Privatization Standing Committee at anti-privatization@shaw.ca. State how your work makes a positive contribution to your community -we'll use members' own words 10 help educate others. Also email your questions, concerns, and strategy ideas.
Above all, value yourself and the work you do for the public!
Some questions for the SGEU
- Where is the evidence that "organizations representing private business are aggressively pressuring politicians to turn liquor sales over to private business"?
- "Organizations like MADD and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health point to research that indicates privatization brings fewer controls and increased consumption; they say this opens a Pandora's Box of related social problems." Let's see the research.
- "When called on, participate in letter-writing campaigns and petitions in support of public liquor sales". Called on, by who? Who's aggressively pressuring who?
Finally... Did you catch the hilarious inconsistency?
Stop privatization by sending an email to Gayle at her SHAW email address?
I wonder if Gayle has a Shaw home phone as part of her bundle? It will probably save her some money over SaskTel...

SGEU Anti-Privatization Handout - Part One
"It's our responsibility to refuse to sell liquor to people who shouldn't have it. It's the most important part of our job. Way more important than making a profit selling liquor.
If profit mattered, we'd be tempted to anyone with money to buy."
In other words, private business isn't nearly as moral as government unions.
They would risk their business licence to make a profit selling "Sour Puss" to an eighteen year old.
And who said unions were out of touch with reality?

CUPE Saskatchewan Brochure
This lovely piece was dropped off by the NDP Boogeyman operatives (CUPE) at nursing homes and schools across the province.
Verbatim;
"What's at risk for YOU?
- The Saskatchewan Party will "review" and restrict the Crowns. You will pay Alberta-style bills for car insurance and utilities.
- The Saskatchewan Party's Policy is to favour private big business over public services. Your public job will be at risk
- Brad Wall doesn't want you to have three weeks of vacation each year. The Saskatchewan Party doesn't want you to enjoy Family Day. They don't want minimum-wage legislation to protect you and your kids. "
After that is a cheezy graphic of some Felix the Cat character rolling dice that read' "Sell Our Crowns", "Hidden Agendas", "Out of Control Growth" and "For Profit Hospitals"
Other that being totally and completely factually inaccurate, a nice piece from the NDP Boogeyman and his "useful idiot" operatives
