U of R NDP Youth Rally Planned For Today

Via Facebook and organizer, David Froh (the guy that was offering kids $10 an hour to volunteer door knock)

verbatim

"Regina South NDP Candidate, Yens Petersen will join with University of Regina NDP Club members and concerned students to protest a Saskatchewan Party Youth Plan that ignores the requests and needs of young students, this thursday at !2:30 in the U of R Riddell Centre."

I guess the !2:30 is to attract all the Swahili NDP support on campus. (It's a linguistics joke... look it up)

It would be nice to see some young Sask Party supporters there to counter the misinformation campaign.

Does this reflect the levels of literacy on our university campuses? !!!

Boogeyman,

I was on campus during the 'rally.' The U of R Sask Party Club was two tables away, gathering support and stealing thunder.

This is a verified sighting by me!

The NDP campaign was ineffective at best.

Here is another verified sighting;

Upon asking the guy at the table, I asked if the NDP was paying people to work on the campaigns and he told me "yes" and thay the pay was $10/hours and may even be up to $12 now.

That alone indicates that the NDP is even having difficulty in hiring people to campaign!

Glad to be of service, boogeyman!

LHC,

Nice work.

Do you have any idea approximately how many people they were chatting with? Was it a large crowd? All supporters? Or just many interested observers?

What was the mood?

Thanks for being there. Mind you, some will insist we're just making all this shit up...

There is almost no activity at all on the leftwing blogs.

The little bit of polling I have seen does not look good for the neo socialists.

I was door knocking again today for Dennis Neudorf and was again surprised at how many people are furious with the NDP. Massey Place is a NDP stronghold, it's Eric Clines old riding, after all, but I think Cam Broten is going to have to work damn hard to win. No 40 hour union work week, he will have to be putting in the hours of a small business owner or farmer to win.

Boogeyman,

I appreciate you facilitating this blog. I come here early and often (just like NDP voters!)

The NDP youth along with Yens Petersen, were trying to engage people in the hallway of the Riddell Center. These were students passing by in the main hall of the Student Center. There were potentially a thousand people passing by, but like a NY subway stop, people were walking past in a rush. Not that effective.

The mood was hopeful but morale was clearly VERY low for the U of R New Democrats.

They were trying very hard to convince people to vote NDP and they were targeting the campaign to students only on tuition. A clear attempt to mislead the youth and to buy their votes with short term tuition reimbursements.

One NDP supporter had the gall to tell me that he was a small business person and the reason he's voting NDP is because they are the best for small business. I nearly puked when he said that!

The U of R Sask Party mood was optimistic and morale was very high. More people were taking the literature and talking to the Sask Party people than the New Democrats, at least for the time that I was there for.

As far as their campaigning went, the NDP did fairly poorly. Two attracive young women I know were selling tickets to a fund raiser two tables down from the NDP and their candidate. They were there the whole time and asked me why the New Democrats didn't try and win their vote. I had no explanation for their actions, but ensured they were voting Sask Party. I would have used politics as an excuse just to talk to them when I was young.

The NDP youth are not even trying to get the vote out...and they're getting PAID! I can't imagine what they'd be like if they were volunteering!

Keep up the good work Boogeyman and I will keep verifying the sightings!

Peace out!

I didn't see them at lunch. I was looking for the free candy from the URSU table though ;-)

I did get given another Tommy button though later on. My supply ran out when I provided my one to Kate.

I guess it was around 1:15 PM when I was there.

If there was little prior to that, then NDP support is low at a place where they should have a stronghold.
