News of the Future

Former NDP MLA Pat Atkinson officially began her bid for the leadership of the provincial NDP today.

The leadership contest will take place in the spring of 2012, after a devastating 2011 election loss in which the Sask Party gained four additional seats and saw the NDP popularity sink to an all time low under leader Dwain Lingenfelter.

UPDATE - Especially for Steven R.

Atkinson will serve out her term until the Nov. 7 provincial election, but a return to politics -- in a party leadership race or a federal election -- wasn't ruled out on Tuesday, although she said she has no immediate plans for her post-political life.

"You're never supposed to say never," Atkinson told reporters after her farewell address. "I'm a politician, sorry."

You seriously think that Mr. Lingenfelter will let go of the party leadership even if he suffers a devastating loss?

That would be rather embarrassing if he were the first NDP leader in Saskatchewan to not be Premier. Besides, if what Mr. Lalonde said is true, all Mr. Lingenfelter has to do is hold on until the 2015 election and he's in.

You seriously think she's running for leader? Yikes, the Sask. Party caucus needs better researchers.

And another rat leaves the sinking ship! Oh and Steven R. .. how are things over at politburo? Still think that Link was the best choice to defeat Wall? Hahahaha! My guess is that Andrew Thomson crawls out from under his rock in 2012 and pulls a Link to think he can lead the masses in 2015.

Are the Lefties ready for Thomson and his lifestyle to lead them ? Back from Cisco in Toronto. Downing of double dipping. Not sure but by then desperation will have lead to outright madness so I can agree.

Sorry spell checker issue. Speaking of double dipping. Thomson should know about that.
